This exhibition took place during the genocide of the Palestinian people in 2024. At the invitation of  Ohio University Galleries in Athens, Ohio, this solo exhibition acted as a companion project to the film, "Trail Markers," drawing connections between bucolic Ohio landscapes and the violence enacted upon Palestinian life and land. "Place and Power" is a text-based installation on 40 to 90lb chunks of broken concrete slab. This work visually hearkens to the destruction of Gaza while reminding the viewer of geopolitical power dynamics that threaten one population while asserting the supremacy of another. "Soft Skills" is an installation of backpacks, some of which were used as props during the filming of "Trail Markers." These backpacks have tatreez inverted triangles sewn onto them.  "Nine Minutes in Heath Ohio" is the lightbox installation on the left of the gallery. It features aerial views of two structures: The Great Circle, a Hopewell earthwork ca 500 ad, and a Boeing Manufacturing facility. One has been enshrined in the UNESCO World Heritage site list as protected indigenous architecture. The other manufactures weaponry to destroy indigenous communities and their ancient cultural spaces.
